I am in favor of removing all carpool / high-occupancy-vehicles (HOV) lanes completely ONLY IF the lanes become DEDICATED, painted, BUS-ONLY lanes. As we know, each bus removes 50-60 cars from the road which would dramatically reduce our traffic congestion.
Additional benefit: fewer car engines operating means less pollution.
